Indoor vs. Outdoor: Indoor track season begins in mid-January. We start with a base phase of conditioning and then add some indoor meets to test our progress. Indoor meets do not follow a set order of events due to the differing sizes and shapes of indoor tracks. Indoor season ends the last week in March.
Outdoor season begins on April 1st. Outdoor meets in Illinois follow the same schedule:
Field Events:
Long Jump
Triple Jump
High Jump
Shot Put
Discus

Conference Dual or Triangular Meets: These meets are not co-ed. Each athlete can compete in no more than FOUR races per meet. Usually, these meets are duals (against one other school) or triangulars (two other schools). Meets usually begin at 4:45, and depending upon the number or size of schools can finish from 6:30-7:30. Generally, everyone gets the opportunity to race at these meets.
Invitationals: Invites are usually on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays. These meets are for the top competitors in each event. Generally, we are only allowed to enter TWO individuals in each event and one relay team. Athletes are selected by their performances in prior meets. The tape measure and stopwatch tell the story! The line up for one invite is not always the same as the next. Athletes must continue to improve throughout the season.
